Cupcake Party for Baby Lowery

My sister and her new husband are expecting a baby at the end of September. In true Hoffmann tradition (because having parties, being OCD and a perfectionist runs through our genes) Kayla and Aaron had a party to find out the gender of the sweet baby bundle. A week before Kayla's 25th birthday, they had an ultrasound at their doctors office. I was so happy they asked me to attend (thanks for being out of town mom), but immediately realized it was my civic duty to all our friends and family to make sure Kayla didn't peek when the tech was looking at the "private parts". To say the least, I was practically laying across her, covering her eyes. (This only happened after I looked up and saw her peaking between her fingers......so sneaky!) While I was keeping the two of them from finding out early I snuck a peek at the screen and saw the results. SSSSHHHHH!!!!!
How cute is she!!!!!!! I just love it! I can't keep my hands off her tummy and I'm sure it drives her crazy when I bend down to talk to the sweetheart. With my youngest baby just finishing up kindergarten, I can't get enough of all the "baby stuff". I miss it so much!
At the end of the ultrasound, the tech filled out two cards that stated if it was a boy or girl. Aaron and I immediately sealed them and kept them away from Kayla. One card went directly into my purse (after Aaron scribbled all over the back so us girls wouldn't break it open and peek). This card was sent overnight the night before the party to my sister in California. The second card went to a friend of Kayla and Aaron's who was going to make cupcakes for the party. He filled them with either pink or blue frosting.
These red velvet cupcakes were delicious!
Team blue: All of the friends and family that thought she was having a boy
Team Pink: All the friends and family that thought she was having a girl
The whole group right before we bit into cupcakes!
Me with my mom and Kayla. I came dressed smart: blue with pink polka dots. There was no way I was going to let the secret out that I knew.
Kayla and Aaron with my mom and Great Grandpa Bill
Aaron and Kayla with Nick, Kasha and their beautiful baby.
They kept the secret all week and baked the most delicious cupcakes for the surprise

The final results: A BOY!!!!!!!
I can't begin to tell you how excited I am for sweet Kolton Keith Lowery! I can't wait to spoil him with love, sweets, toys and all the things mommy's and daddy's can't do. Oh, and he'll also get lots of pets from me (payback!). I look at Kayla and Aaron and remember that special time when my kiddos were babies. That first pregnancy with the growing tummy, feeling the baby move for the first time......all of those special moments! Kayla and Aaron, treasure every second of this time between the two of you and your growing family.
And always remember.........I WILL BABYSIT ANYTIME!!!!!!

Hunters Final Music Show

Hunter performed in his last music show with his Kindergarten class at Dayspring. They were so cute on stage. It's hard to believe this is my last year at this school.

Hunter Plays Baseball

This spring Hunter played baseball for Tempe South Little League. He was so excited that his team was the Diamondbacks. Brendon helped coach the team. Hunter thought that was really cool
The farm league Hunter played in had pitching machines. The first time Hunter hit the ball with his metal bat it vibrated through his hands, which he didn't like. We got him batting gloves (which were "magic gloves") so he never had to worry about that happening again.
Hunter said his favorite part of playing baseball was batting.

April 2010 Pat's Run

This year we participated for the first time in Pat's Run. It's a fundraiser for Pat Tillman's foundation. It was such a fun event with close to 25,000 people. There were so many families walking with their dogs and kids in stroller. There was a 4.2 mile race and a .42 mile race for the kids each ending up on the 42 yard line in Sun Devil Stadium. Madison, Chloe and Christian ready to run 4.2 miles
The LeClaire Family
Madison and I did the 4.2 mile race together
After our long race, Brendon met us with Hunter and Makenzie for the kids .42mile race. Brendon ran with Hunter and I went with Makenzie. The kids were put in groups by age so Madison ran in the 12 year old section. Makenzie was a little worried with all the crowds so I told her not to worry, to set her pace and I would keep up. Long story short, she took off and sprinted the entire race. I was dodging in and out of people trying to keep up with her. On the uphill into the stadium I figured she'd slow down but she sped up. It definetly made me giggle and my legs were burning!

Inside the stadium after the race, the Sun Devil football players signed autographs

My girls

In November, the kids and I purchased three baby chicks.
They were so little and cute when we first got them.
Hunter named his chick Monster Makenzie named her chick Molly
Madison named her chick Little Rascal
The dogs weren't sure what to think of them
Two days after Easter we got our first egg. By the end of April we were getting three eggs a day. The kids love to go out in the morning and collect them. If anyone needs eggs, you know who to call! We have more eggs than we know what to do with. The kids are so sick of scrambled eggs. :-)
